"This is My Country" is sung by millions of Americans this time of year. We enjoy the celebration and the flag waving and the time we get to spend with our families. The parade that traveled down Main Street USA this Fourth of July was attended by entire towns and the smell of open cooked barbecue shared the air with the sounds of local bands playing from make-shift stages and flat bed trucks.
No one was stopped from publicly displaying the symbols of Freedom or kept from speaking words of Praise for what our forefathers and soldiers fought to defend.
Everything will be fine until someone decides we should pause and thank God for our Freedom. Just as soon as you bow your head to pray you will be subject to arrest, lawsuits or open attack.
This doesn't even seem plausible does it? But it is true. This is not something that just happens in some other country. It happens here in the good old USA. Prayers are banned at public gatherings. Christian symbols like crosses, manger scenes, the Ten Commandments of all things and even little children who would boldly pray over their lunch in a public school lunchroom are not permitted to do so in the United States any more. All these expressions of our Faith are AGAINST the Law.
I encourage you to pause and remember to whom we should be giving thanks for all things including our Freedom. I am not asking or encouraging you to "Break the Law" but you are still allowed to pray at home and in your church and silently even in a public place.
Pray for this Nation and its leaders. Pray that somehow we as a Nation can find our way back to God before it is forever too late.
