. . . from the Manager's Desk

"LORDSHIP"

Jesus desired that we all be Fishers of Men. Somehow He expects us to find ways to bring the lost to a full understanding of what it really means to believe in Him and follow him out of LOVE and not just as a method of FIRE prevention.

DANGER OF HELL

I guess that’s a good place to start. I’ll direct this question to all of us. If there were no danger of Hell, would we still believe and desire to serve Christ? If the only punishment for not serving Him was eternal sleep and separation from His presence, would we still seek a relationship with Him? For some, these may be tough questions. But it is important that we be able to answer them sincerely.

Unless we have a firm grip on why we believe, it will be extremely difficult to convince anyone else that they need to believe. Many live their whole lives hanging on to an experience not a Savior. They remember the time and place where they stepped out and accepted Christ. Next there was Baptism and voting rights but the Man Jesus was never really allowed to take up residence in their Heart. Jesus was never allowed to be Lord of their life.

COMPLETE SURRENDER

What does it mean to make Jesus Lord of your life? It means giving over everything. It means signing over ownership of all you possess. It means giving Jesus Power of Attorney over your affairs. In short it means complete Surrender. I love the old Hymn that says, “I surrender all, All to Jesus I surrender…”

The Surrendered life is a life of freedom. When Jesus has everything, it leaves us FREE to live our lives full of Joy and gives us no reason to worry or be afraid. Worry and fear are not reasons to serve Christ; they are a product of our lack of service and dependence.

CONTAGIOUS JOY

Did you ever meet someone who had very little wealth or success but yet they always had a smile on their face and contagious Joy? I have been privileged to meet many Christians like that and I’m sure you have too. But why aren’t we all like that? One possibility might be taken from the story of the rich man who asked Jesus what was required of him. Jesus told him to sell all that he had and then come and follow Him. The man went away sorrowful, and unwilling to do what Jesus had asked because he was so wealthy. The rich man was not able to fully surrender every part of his life, especially the thing that was most important to him.

I am not sure that Jesus really wanted the rich man to sell everything but rather that he be willing to sell everything. He could have done great things in the Kingdom with so much wealth and brought many people to Christ if he had only been willing to forsake all and follow Jesus.

NEW HARVEST

Bringing people into the kingdom should be our highest priority. But before we go fishing we must make sure that we are prepared to live the Surrendered life ourselves with evidence of the Lordship of Jesus so that our example will be pleasing to Christ and a model for the new harvest we bring in.      NoteworthyBackIssues
