Not necessarily, but it does expose us to the evil one because it distances us from God. We should not expect the protection and loving care of our heavenly father if we are unwilling to live for Him, love Him and follow His instruction.
There are many diseases related to poor eating habits, excessive stress and inactivity. Treating our bodies badly is a sin and we cannot expect to live a sick free life in a poorly cared for temple. Heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, even cancer are often linked to what we eat and how we live.
Every day we are learning that what we eat can harm or cure us. We live in a high fat, high salt society that bases the quality of food on taste alone with little regard for what our bodies really need. Gods best for us is to eat what He provided; natural healthy food.
Over the past year I have seen 4 different doctors to treat an ear problem. My left ear would fill up with fluid and cause great discomfort and hearing loss. I lived on antibiotics, and decongestants but continued to have the attacks. I was finally treated by an ENT who wasnt afraid to lay down the prescription pad and go a different route. He said he believed my problem was diet related and that I was retaining fluid. He stopped all my medication and put me on a low salt diet. He also recommended I go to a health food store and get an all-natural diuretic. I havent had an attack since and I have lost 30 pounds and feel the best I have felt in years.
Cutting out fast food was my first step and that alone probably accounted for most of the fat and salt I was consuming. Next, I became a water drinker and a label reader. It is amazing how well you can eat without high fat and salt in your diet. My wife steams much of what we eat now. Green beans, little red potatoes, asparagus tips, rice and carrots never tasted so good.
I believe God can heal a mistreated body that suffers from neglect, but I think He would rather see us take better care of ourselves so He doesnt have to. He gives us wisdom to know better than to play in the street during heavy traffic. We couldnt blame God if we were hit by a bus. His wisdom also teaches us how to best take care of our bodies.
I prayed and called for the church to pray and my staff to pray for my ear, but it didnt clear up till I reduced the salt in my diet. I believe God answered my prayer by getting me to a Christian doctor who knew how to treat my whole body and not just my symptoms.
I have since read case histories of many diseases being treated and cured with natural remedies. If you are sick, pray for wisdom and Gods intervention. Take the steps toward better health that are within your control and trust God.
God created an incredible machine called the human body. He made it in such a way that given the chance it could heal itself. It is amazing that broken bones can knit themselves back together, stronger than before and a cut finger can almost heal overnight.
Thank
God that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139
