When you lay down at the end of the day do you rest peacefully or do the worries and cares of the day keep your mind occupied in a swirling chaos that prevents sleep from coming? It is one of those catch 22s: You need to rest so you can work out your problems but the problems prevent you from getting the rest you need. Well, God's Word speaks clearly on this subject and if you will act on His Word, tonight you will sleep better than you ever thought possible.
Lets start with the word Rest. In the Greek we find the transliteration Anesis and anapauô: These words mean more than rest. They encompass relaxation, ease, refreshing and liberty. Liberty or Freedom from care allows us to rest and sustain the most fulfilling peace possible.
Next, Scripture teaches us to CAST or THROW our cares on Him. He does not want us to worry about anything. He desires a relationship with us that involves listening to and serving Him and in exchange He carries all the burdens, cares, problems and worries. When you have a relationship with the Lord that includes a submissive life style and prayer life of gratitude and praise, you will find great peace, rest and most certainly a good nights sleep.
When we pray, read His Word and listen for His voice, we will hear Him speak clearly and He in turn will hear us. That sets up the basis of a good relationship: communication. How sweet to hear the Lord speak clearly to us in a voice as gentle as a summer rain. Sometimes I pray myself to sleep listening to His voice speak to me as I drift off to sleep.
If you want to find rest for your body first find rest for your soul. If you already know the Lord, begin this moment to speak to Him and seek Him. Cast your cares on Him and tell Satan to take his evil presence someplace else and stop robbing you of Peace that passes understanding. Enter into a relationship with Jesus. Speak to Him as a friend, confidant, and loving Father. Confess your faults, share your concerns, ask for His wisdom and direction and turn your life over to Him. Being Saved gets you in the boat. A Relationship with Jesus moves you into the Captains Quarters.
If you have not accepted Christ
you have good reason to toss and turn. To die without Jesus would
be the greatest tragedy of all. Please accept Him right now. A
simple prayer confessing your sins and asking His forgiveness
will result in Salvation. When you ask Him to forgive you He promises
He will accept and adopt you as one of His own. Then you too can
begin a relationship with the Savior.
