                       TARGETED

As is often the case the subject of my newsletter column gets changed at the last minute. The main topic was to be the recent tragedy in Virginia that took the lives of innocent young people. Then I remembered the horrible bus crash in Atlanta also claiming the lives of innocent young people. Coupled with these tragedies the death of young men and women on a daily basis in Iraq and the thousands of unborn children lost through abortion and it is easy to see that there is a much broader subject to explore.

Our youth have been targeted.

Biblical history parallels world history with the targeting of our youth. Joseph and Mary escaped with Jesus to protect Him from Herod; Moses put in a water tight basket and set adrift to protect him from Pharaoh's decrees that all the first born of Israel should die and the Holocaust took the lives of innocent children as well as adults because of their religious belief.

Why take the lives of children? I believe that it is not just an accident or incidental or political. Satan is working to destroy God by destroying God's children. What would the world be like if Herod had been successful? Would the Israelites still be in bondage if Pharaoh had succeeded? How many great men and women of God have been lost to abortion, wars, accidents and murder?

What can we do? Pray for our children, of course, but also guard them like the precious jewels they are. Protect them from harm. Get rid of politicians who endanger them. Speak out with a voice that makes a difference.

Train your children to love God and to believe early in life. Care for them and love them with all your heart, resources and wisdom. Know where they are and who they are with and what they are doing. Be responsible for them until they can be responsible for themselves.

The future truly is in the hands of our youth. But so many of theses hands have already been lost, their voices quieted and their precious souls returned to God.
